Great for kids with motor issues

This is the best app on the market for teaching kids with cerebral palsy to write. If they could only allow custom words with picture import, and a text reader...

Five stars

Thanks for adding Easy mode- this makes this app nearly perfect! Definitely worth a few bucks to help your kid learn to write.

Fun for a game

This app has beautiful colors that my two year old loves yet lacks the headline, midline, and baseline that another reviewer pointed out. My four year old has been playing the app Pre-K ABC HD which has the lines and the color coded start from the top dots and arrows like he has in pre-k as well as a bright colored speller and flashcards. This is a great game app not a school readiness app like Pre-K ABC.

M

I just installed this app to help my 5&3yr olds practice writing. While it is a cute program with great features, I am highly disappointed that it is made for RIGHTHANDED children only!! All of my kids are left handed and the crab forces them to do strokes opposite to the stroke marks left handed people make when forming letters. Im so disappointed that I wasted my money on a program that doesnt take that into account when trying to provide a valuable first writing experience for young children. I will think twice before buying another app from this provider.

Excellent app

My kids love this app... Great learning app for preschoolers

Excellent learning tool

My toddler is now 28 months old and has learned the entire alphabet in about 2 months. Excellent learning tool for kids, highly recommended.

Great app for preschoolers

My daughter plays every night and I dont feel bad as she is learning her letters and numbers

Great app!

Excellent app for toddlers to learn fine motor skills. It guides the child how to write letters and numbers, gives very good instruction and feedback and it is one of the best apps for kids. Well done for this great and thoughful app! My son, 34 months loves it, it keeps him focused and his improvement is amazing!

Love it !!!

I purchased this app for me 3 year old. He loves it. I have about 65 apps for him on my iPad and this one is what he always picks first. He can write his name from learning how to write his letters on this app. Awesome. Fun. Entertaining. Worth it.

Spanish

Not only our kids likes this very much, but we can also have him learn the alfabet in spanish and english. This is important during early childhood if you want him to natively speak two or more languages. Every bit of dual language experince helps.

Love it

My almost 3 year old loves this game. As a parent, I love it too. She has fun playing all while learning. Thats a fine line to walk an this app does it easily.

Such a good app for writing the alphabet

Why so few reviews? I think this is a very smart and fun way to learn how to write letters and numbers and do so in the correct direction. The interface visually shows the user how to write the letter. It guides the user throughout with the traditionally correct *order* of the strokes as well as the stroke *direction*. Perhaps its my Japanese side that makes me a stickler when it comes to handwriting. IMHO, I think there IS a proper way to hand write letters! : ) In addition to its inherent charm (the illustrated words are just sublime--I am guessing the app designer found a precociously artistic child to create to drawings), the child narration is very sweet without being cloyingly so and the cheer is a lovely, rather musical touch. The sound effects are lively and fun (I find I do ask my children to turn it down though when the percussion seems too loud) and...and-And-AND: my two children (a boy and a girl) genuinely enjoyed playing it. Now that they are in the elementary grades, it seems to have run its course. It was a delight when they were 3 and 4--and 5 too. I highly recommend it for these ages. Also, I have to say, in the app world, I dont see a lot if soul out there. This app has some soul to it...in terms of the depth and quality of the artwork and the ingenuity and hard work that went into creating it. A cheer to the people who made this! Hurrah!

Fun Stuff

Overall a fun app. I wish they had an option to hear the phonetic sound of the letter rather than only the letter name.

Great App!

My 3 year old and I love it! One of our favorite learning apps.

Fun to play while learning

My son is 2yrs old and he loves this App. It took him some trials to figure out how to trace with his fingers. Being at his age, Im very impressed how he recognizes all his letters and numbers. Worth getting the full App.

Does not work with iOS 6

The apps is great with iOS 5. If you have IOS 6, do mot buy this until they fix the bugs. I have the IPad 2 and running iOS 5, and it work fine, until I update to iOS 6, my child and I are very un happy with it now. iWriteWords if your reading this please update the apps.

Found this on KinderTown

Found this app on KinderTown and love it.

Some things arnt great.

You guys need to remove those stupid falling boxes and the portal. Its just plain confusing to younger kids who finish a word and are ready to move on.

additional practice

an additional application that i would really like to have would be that a parent or teacher could add in the students name into the tasks so that he or she will make the letters in his name the proper way. I am working with a student that knows how to write his name, but makes the letters incorrectly.

Great teaching app!

I got this for my daughter to practice her writing of letters. Its a great way to get her to see how letters sound out words in short spurts of time
